Follow these steps to change the crankshaft position sensor on a Mazda.

You will need

Jack Stands
Vehicle Jack

Procedure

Park your Mazda on level footing. Engage parking brakes. Let the engine cool down.
Jack up the front end right (passenger) side bicycle. The CPS sensor is located on the same side that you accept the serpentine belt. Information technology is not on the transmission side.
Remove the front cycle. Secure your vehicle with a skillful set of jack stands and cake a tire every bit well, so your car doesn't ringlet.
Remove the plastic wheel well liner. It is held in place with several plastic clips, 8mm or ten mm nut depending on the Mazda model.
Locate the crankshaft position sensor.
Unplug the electrical connector.
Remove two 8mm bolts.
